I read previously that the photos were from a naturist magazine dated from the 1960s which would have made Frau Merkel younger at the time than the subject in question, but on further investigation it looks like this claim was never substantiated.

Namecaller's post was the first time I had seen the other photos so I did a bit of digging. The article you read was probably this:

A photo search has unearthed a few shots of her in her youth, the most relevant of which is this one of her "with a friend at a New Year's Eve party in Berlin in 1972" - the year in which the nude photos were said to have been taken (she was born on 17 July 1954) and a second which looks to have been taken at the same time:




This photo is of her with her first husband. They married in 1977 and divorced in 1982.


From these I would suggest that the nudes are not her. What do others think?

I'm also leaning towards the photos not being her. The woman in two photos Namecaller posted don't really resemble the photos of young Merkel that you've found.
